Italian with Hetalia: the project
Hello, Hetalia fans!
I would like to talk to you about this project I have...
As someone of you may know, I am Italian. I saw on DA that many Hetalia fans would like to learn more about my country, even the language...!
It was so strange for me to read this, I didn't know someone would be actually interested in Italy (without stopping at what hetalia says about Italy, which are not really correct things btw)...
But I was indeed flattered and happy to see it!
So this idea came up to my mind: using Hetalia characters, build up a sort of comic/course to let you learn Italian language, and maybe some history/culture/whatever.
Why? You may ask. Well, since I myself am Italian, I think I can help people from other countries to learn something about mine; y'know, I would really like if someone from Japan would do something like this for Japanese eheh ^^"" I think it can be useful... and for me it will be fun xD
Sources For Creating Hetalia OCsINTRODUCTION
So, you want to make a Hetalia OC? Awesome! They can be super fun, but super challenging, too. They are personifications. To personify something is to represent something, in this case, the embodiment of a country, as a human. Personifying a whole country? If that doesn't sound a bit overwhelming, you're either a pro, or you're a good OC maker!
Why? Because it means you respect what it takes. The thing with Hetalia is, it's supposed to be based off of history, culture, stereotypes, and everything that makes a country unique. It's a lot to handle.
Which is why I've created this: A list of sources for building a Hetalia OC.
Average heights by country
Why it's Important: It's canon to base your character's height off of the country's average. If you cannot find the average height of what your character represents, you can use an averag
The Coffee GodThe Coffee God behind the counter shuffles foot to foot, a dance of steam and espresso. Black painted fingernails, inch gauged ears and a gray striped sweatshirt, hood crooked on his back. There's a cigarette tucked behind one ear; it bobs and twitches with each step.
“Non-fat caramel latte,” he calls, just as he always does, part of a spell, part of a mantra, toneless (just a tuck at the end). I reach. He looks up.
The espresso maker hisses.
There's something like a grin, something like a spark, something like a shared secret linked eye to eye. When he passes over the drink (rough cardboard sleeve hot to the touch), he lingers. Our fingers brush, a shiver, a jolt, a ten-watt shock.
The Coffee God tilts his chin, shouts, “Hey, mind if I take my break now?”
and ducks around the counter without waiting for a reply.
He slips his cigarette between his lips without taking his eyes from mine. I follow him out the door.
